Ave Maria (AATTBB, unaccompanied) (2015)
[smartslider2 slider=”7″]The original unaccompanied SATB version was composed March 27th-April 1st 2015, this version was composed 9th October 2015 and contains some additions to the original.
Dedicated to Jane Champion.
Duration: c. 2′ 45″
Text: The Angelic Salutation (in Latin)
Programme note by the composer:
In this setting of the Ave Maria I have opted for a simple, yet mildly dissonant harmonic style. The general dynamic is very quiet apart from the climax ‘ora pro nobis’ (‘pray for us sinners’), which is a dissonant and impassioned plea to the Mother of God.
